Some places change us

Marrakech at Dusk began with a journey through Morocco—the light, the courtyards, the old walls, and the quiet moments that stay with us long after we leave.

Clara arrives in Marrakech hoping for distance from the life she has left behind. Youssef has spent years restoring old places while avoiding the parts of his own life that need mending.

Neither expects the other.

Kunal, Rachelle & Where We Pause

Kunal Joarder writes stories about travel, connection, and the unexpected ways places can change us.

After a career in technology and business, he returned to two things that had always stayed with him: writing and travel. Much of that travel is shared with his wife, Rachelle, who plans the journeys that take them across countries, cultures, and landscapes. Together they travel slowly, leaving time to wander, observe, photograph, and discover the places between the destinations.

Marrakech at Dusk, a work of fiction, was inspired by an extended stay in Morocco and by Kunal’s fascination with the country’s old cities, courtyards, craftsmanship, and the lives unfolding within them.

Where We Pause grew from those shared journeys. It is a home for Kunal’s stories and for the places, photographs, and moments that he and Rachelle encounter along the way.
